A Little Halloween Treat

We typically do not get any trick or treaters in our neighborhood. We don’t have a lot of kids that live in our neighborhood, and more and more kids are doing the Trunk or Treats instead. We only have only little boy, Luke, who lives on our street. Luke is a sweetheart, and I always get him some special treats. This year, I went to Yonutz Donuts Yonutz vs. Donuts, Yonutz! Is Official and got him a special Halloween donut.

I took a picture of the “donut chef” who made it too. She had the mouse from Ratatouille on her shoulder. She was ready for Halloween.

Other than Luke, no one came to our door, though it probably didn’t help that Larry and I did not have our lights on either. Halloween is not really our thing, especially since we do not have kids of our own. If you like Halloween though, I hope you had a spooktacular one. šŸ™‚

Have a great day and make everyday great. Stay safe and stay well. ‘Til next time.

  1. My husband and I live in a neighborhood that is extremely popular with trick-or-treaters. Parents from other parts of town drive their kids here to trick or treat. There were dozens and dozens of cars parked along the side of the road that leads to our neighborhood. My grandson always comes here to help me hand out the goodies because he thinks that’s the best part of the holiday, but I had underestimated how much we would need and after a while we were in danger of running out. I had spent almost a hundred dollars on candy, and I was beginning to resent all these people coming from far and wide to trick or treat here instead of going door to door in their own neighborhoods. If it had been up to me, I would have turned off the lights and drawn the shades and closed up shop, but I couldn’t bear to disappoint my grandson, so I told him I would go to the nearest convenience store and buy more candy. The street was so crowded with parents and children that I could hardly get through, and one extremely rude couple — who were definitely not from around here — even yelled and cursed at me because they thought I was driving too fast, even though I was creeping along. The woman screamed that there were kids all over the place, as if I were a congenital imbecile and couldn’t see them completely taking over the street (they didn’t even have the sense to move to the sides of the street but walked right down the middle). This obnoxious woman had driven her children to my neighborhood to take advantage of our generosity, and the only reason I was in my car at all was to to get more candy to give to her kids, and she was cursing at me. There’s gratitude for you.

      1. You are so right. The only reason I went out to get more candy was that I couldn’t bear to disappoint my grandson, who was having a blast giving out the treats and didn’t want to quit.

It really ticks me off that all of those parents and their kids were blocking the street, as if they owned the place and I was trespassing. I live on a cul-de-sac and there’s only one way out, and they were obstructing it. What if someone had had a medical emergency and needed to get to the hospital?
