A VERY Unwelcomed Guest

I HATE snakes! I am VERY phobic of them; always have been. Earlier today, I was going into my garage for something, and this is what I saw. I had a VERY unwelcomed guest right by my car, in my garage. Needless to say, I turned right around and went right back into the house ASAP! I think it is a garter snake. I don’t really care what it is though; it is NOT welcome! I have not, and will NOT step back in my garage until Larry comes home and gets rid of it. The really odd things are, 1) it is very late in the season, and 2) this is the first snake I’ve seen all season. But WHY does it have to be in my garage??????

  1. I agree, snakes are kind of scary. My wife walked into the bathroom one day and as she was washing her hands she noticed that what she thought was part of the faucet was moving. It was a one yard long rat snake and she was just half a foot away from it. We had someone come and pick it up.

On another occasion me and my daughter was at father-daughter camp/gathering and a snake expert was showing us snakes. I handled a whipped snake and showed it to my daughter when it stuck its head in under my shirt sleeves and started going up my sleeve. Yes I had a whipped snake under the inside my shirt. Whipped snakes are strong and I had to fight a bit to get it out.

Once when we visited a state park I was carrying around my son on my shoulders. He said, dad you almost stepped on that green mamba. I looked down and between my feet was green grass snake. They are were all freaky experiences yet perfectly safe.

  2. We have rattlesnakes, cottonmouths, and copperheads around here but yea…I’m scared to death of any snake. My recurring nightmare is to land in a pit of them.
I stepped on one barefoot as a child…scared the hell out of me…luckily it was only a black racer.

  3. Well, I guess I’m the odd one out, here. I like snakes! Especially garter snakes. Sadly, I haven’t seen too many of late. Spring flooding for a couple of years has probably affected the population, as they would have still been underground in their dens at the time. They are excellent and getting rid of pests, like slugs and other voracious garden insects.
