It’s Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas

Our house is quickly getting into the spirit of the season.  The decorations are coming out, the trees are up and the outside lights are on.  My friend Elizabeth came over last night to help us decorate the trees.  We even had some help from the fur babies as well.  The kitties liked all the boxes.  There were so many new things to explore with all these boxes coming up from the basement.  Lucie was helping Daddy every time he went downstairs and Vinnie was helping out upstairs, swiping his tail on everything to make sure there was just enough dog fur on all the decorations.  I guess this was his way of giving his pawprint of approval.

Larry is working on the little tree for the art niche.  Christmas carols were playing in the background to help us get into the spirit of the season.

It’s not done yet, but it’s getting there.

Working on the main tree in the family room.  It wasn’t finished here, but we got it all decorated after dinner.  After dinner and the trees were up, we all decided to watch one of our favorite Christmas movies, “Love Actually“.

Elizabeth and I working on the tree in the living room.  We love our very eclectic trees.  We travel a lot, and we collect Christmas ornaments from all of our travels.  They are fun mementos of our trips and adventures.

Our big tree outside in the front yard.  Larry also put the lights up around the house and on our back deck too.

Time to rest after all the hard work of decorating.

The Christmas cards are all ready to go out and the house is mostly done.  We still have a bit more decorating to do to get ready for the holidays, but we have certainly made a lot of headway.  We are almost there.  We are supposed to get a ton of snow tomorrow.  We are expecting between 8-14 inches in our neck of the woods, and more in the mountains.  So, yes, it is definitely “beginning to look a lot like Christmas”.

    1. Thank you. I know, but because we are having our annual party this Saturday, right after Thanksgiving, we had to get the Christmas decorations up. It wasn’t my choice either, but our party is early this year. Yesterday was pretty warm, and it is supposed to be decent today. The snow is supposed to come in tonight. Our weather is the wackiest weather around. We can, and do, change seasons in 5 minutes.

      1. You need to tell whoever organizes the party that Goldie asked for it to be re-scheduled to December. I’m sure they will listen. Or else…

Living in the Midwest has definitely gotten me used to the 4 seasons in a day thing. I didn’t know the same can be applied to Colorado. So did you get snow?

      2. 🙂 🙂 🙂 I will pass that along.

Did we get snow?????? OMG! We are sitting at about 8-10 inches and it is still snowing. Boulder, just about 15 minutes away is reporting 22 inches, and Red Feather Lakes, near the Wyoming border and about 1 1/2 hours away from us, is reporting 32 inches. It is DEFINITELY a snow day.

  1. I start decorating the day after Thanksgiving. It takes me a couple of weeks to get everything set up! I’m not setting up the Christmas garden (trains, tree and villiage) so that’s one less thing.
Thanks for sharing, enjoyed the photos!

  2. So pretty. I started decorating a little early too. Usually I wait until after Thanksgiving but we bought some little trees up north when we were there a couple weeks ago. Snow is coming up to Our Little Red House but we won’t be able to make it because we do not want to get stuck up there. Here in the city there will be lots of rain for our Thanksgiving week and Black Friday shopping.

  3. I’ve been taking a poll lately of people who have started decorating early for Christmas. We used to have a rule that we’d wait until after Thanksgiving to decorate too, but we royally broke that rule this year and I have zero regrets. I started decorating right after Veterans Day. My theory is that people are so tired of consuming toxic stuff in the media and on social media that they want to pull the joy of Christmas forward as much as they can. It’s a concrete way of opting out of all the nonsense. I just feel so much better jumping toward the holidays and family and hospitality.

Anyway, that is one seriously impressive tree you have there!!!! These pictures made me miss Colorado, where all the trees can be Christmas trees.

    1. I like your way of thinking. I hadn’t thought about that, but I certainly agree.

These are all artificial trees. I wish they were the real deal, but I like them being in nature, decorating the landscape. Like you said, all our Colorado trees can be Christmas trees. I do miss having a real tree. We used to, but we have been using the artificial ones for years now. there are pros and cons of both. 🙂

    1. Thank you. We all had a good time. It’s really beginning to look like Christmas now. We are in the throws of a major snow storm. It is still snowing, and we are sitting at about 8-10 inches. Boulder, which is only about 15 minutes away is reporting 22 inches, and Red Feather Lakes, about 1 1/2 hours way, near the Wyoming border is reporting 32 inches of snow.
