My husband has been out of town all weekend, and comes home late tonight. So other than the soup and the cookies, I really have not been in the kitchen much these last few days. My waistline has already expanded way more than what I am comfortable with, so there is no need to really cook up a storm when it is just me.
I can easily live off a few leftovers for a few days. So rather than extra calories, I will tempt you with some freshly “baked” words to savor instead. I am definitely a bread person, and could easily live on a delicious diet of nothing but bread and butter if I had to. In fact, that would be my diet of choice. Bread, after all, is the food of life.
Bread is always the warmest, kindest of words. Write it always with a capital letter, like your own name.

Why has our poetry eschewed the rapture and response of food? What hymns are sung and praises said for the home-made miracle of bread?
~ Louis Untermeyer ~
The peasants of Sicily, who have kept their own wheat and make their own natural brown bread, ah, it is amazing how fresh and sweet and clean their loaf seems, so perfumed, as home-made bread used all to be before the war.
~ D.H. Lawrence, from Sea & Sardinia ~
Man does not live by bread alone.
~ Moses ~
I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
~ Jesus, John 6:35, New International Version of the Bible~
There are five artisan bakeries on the high street at the end of my road – I buy a completely different type of bread every week. Love it – but it’s expensive!
PS I sent you an e-mail just now with a question about a little project 🙂

I would be in Heaven, if I had all those bakeries near by. I would also be the size of a house.
I have to run to work now, but I will get back to the e-mail later. 🙂

Bread and butter sounds great to me.
Why is there war on bread?
Why has it become synonymous with evil?
I’m a bit disappointed that the place I moved to does not have much bread variety. Good bread, I should specify. It seems to me that a big part of the US has this problem. Outside of this country bread is just so much better. And it’s more celebrated.

Sadly, for whatever reason, too many people have gotten on he bandwagon that gluten is bad for you, when in fact, if they are not truly celiac intolerant, they are really doing themselves a BIG disservice. Gluten is a type of protein that our bodies need. Bread has been the food of life since the beginning of time, and NOW all of a sudden it is like the worst thing out there, according to these people.
I say, start making your own bread, then you can eat whatever types you

And carbs. Don’t forget that being evil, too.
I’ve been pondering break making for a while. But I have to admit that I haven’t done any steps towards actually doing it. I just imagine it as a laborious process that is kind of like magic – 1 wrong move and it just doesn’t work.

Yes, can’t forget about those evil carbs. As someone who works in the health and fitness industry, and as an athlete myself, carbs ARE absolutely necessary. They are what provides glucose, which is both our body’s and and brain’s main source of energy. WE HAVE TO HAVE carbs!

It’s very human to take things to the extreme. But we should eat everything in moderation. Not binge, or starve ourselves of nutrients.

Absolutely! Moderation in everything is the best solution.

We are SO alike! I could live on bread also, I make 2 loaves a week for Pierre, a white on a Friday for toast at the weekend and a brown on Sunday for sandwiches during the week, his favourite is golden multi-seed, my house smells so good at a weekend! x

I bet it does. I just know we would have a ton of fun together if we lived close to each other. 🙂
