Good-bye to My Beautiful Big Girl

Yesterday was one of the hardest days I’ve had to endure for quite awhile. We had to say good-bye to our beautiful big girl, Lucie. Old age and broken parts got the best of her. She was in a lot of pain and agony this past weekend, and was unable to walk or move. We had no choice but to call the vet and let her go. The vet came about 11:30 and by noon, our beautiful Lucie had crossed over the rainbow bridge. Lucie was almost 9, which for a big dog, is pretty darn old. She lived a very good life, and she knows she was very well loved. As many times as we have had to do this, it NEVER gets easier. Needless to say, I was not in the kitchen at all yesterday. I was barely able to function. So today, is a tribute to my big beautiful girl, Lucie.

We have so many good pictures of her. She and her brother Vinnie were very close, so many of my favorite pictures are of them together. Vinnie is hurting just like we are. He misses her just as much as we do. We all need to heal.

  9. I’m so sorry for your loss 😦 Lucie looks like she was a very happy and well loved dog. It definitely looks like she had a lot of fun and happiness with you! Hugs.

  16. Sorry for your loss, what a sweet girl your Lucie looked like. I still miss my cat Chelsea every day (she was 20 when she went to the Bridge almost 2 yrs ago) Pets are family, and it’s hard to see them go.

  17. Oh Jeanne, l am sorry for your loss – l know the feeling all too well and it never gets any easier. Luckily you still have Vinnie so as hard as this is, you still have a loving companion. They are our loyalist of friends and more family than our actual families many a time. RIP Lucie.

      1. I had a conversation with a chap the other day and he said when we were kids our dogs and cats died mostly of RTA and old age and these days our pets die more of cancers and things and l sat and thought – yeah, sadly they do – all of us are affected by today’s world even our pets.

        But she lived to a good age.

      2. Vinnie is kind of in a state of shock and disbelief I think. He has lost his partner in crime and his best friend. I know time heals all wounds, and this is still a very fresh wound, but Larry and I both are still in a state of denial as well. We both keep thinking she should be right here with us still.
