I made video #4, hopefully for your viewing pleasure. 🙂 All the videos I have made so far have been from recipes that I have made and featured on the blog already. This latest video is showing you how to make one of our favorite summer time salads, a Brussels sprout, apple and bacon salad. It is cool, crispy, sweet and tart all at the same time. It’s just perfect for the summer. Brussels Sprouts Salad with Chicken. I did not add the chicken for this one, but it is the same salad recipe. Sometimes I use red onions, like I did for the video, and sometimes I use shallots. Red onions are a bit more zesty than shallots, but both are fine. You can also make it vegetarian or vegan by not adding the bacon too if you prefer.
I am still a work in progress, and am learning new things all the time. This time I have figured out how to get comments on the video. So if you like it, please, please add your comments if you like and please subscribe to my YouTube page and pass my videos on to as many people as you would like. The more the merrier, I say. 🙂 I am also open to suggestions on what you would like to see me make.
I meant to mention it in my video, but I forgot to, but I am anxiously awaiting to see all of your apron designs and concepts. Once the aprons are made, the winner will win a “A Jeanne in the Kitchen” apron. Please send your ideas to my email address at ljbjej@q.com
Stay safe and stay well. ‘Til next time.

What happened before you added the garlic? There’s a cut in the video and it made me curious.

The garlic lid was stuck and I had a hard time opening it, so we just edited it out.

That gives me an idea – blooper videos are rather popular. Now might not be the right time, but I think it would be a good idea to entertain down the road.

I will definitely think about it. 🙂

Hi Jeanne – Great video! I liked how you did some chopping on the video, but did most of it ahead of time. You remind me of the earlier Julia Child “The French Chef” episodes. I was watching the video on the TV in the kitchen while I making dinner and Bruce came in to see what I was making for dinner. He said, what are you watching? I said “Jeanne’s new video!” Bruce then said, “I knew she looked familiar! Do you mind if I restart it?” My answer was “go ahead.” So I watched most of your video twice!

Thank you. To remind you of the earlier Julia Child is a big compliment. Glad you enjoyed it. 🙂

Great video, dear Jeanne, and delicious recipe. For those who are vegetarian (or kosher, like me), there are a few different kinds of fake bacon.

Thank you. I forgot to mention you can also add bleu cheese crumbles too if you like.

If I could have any cheese, I would definitely add bleu cheese, but I have to resign myself to nutritional yeast.

Sometimes it’s fun to break the rules though. 🙂

Too painful, I am sorry to say.

I totally get it. As we get older we often have to give up some of the things we love.

Ahem… Who gets older? I am always 18 (but my pancreas doesn’t want to know).

🙂 🙂 🙂 No we are 21 and holding. If we were only 18, we would not be able to “legally” enjoy our favorite beverage – WINE. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Not where I am from, darling! Anyway, in Cuba legal marriage starts at 15, and so does legal drinking, and we here are much closer to Cuba than to the US. Cheers!
