Nature Walks – White Birds of the Lakes

I hope you have all been enjoying my photos of the wildlife we have right in our backyard.  We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful array of wildlife that we can commune with everyday, right here at home.

We have the lakes and the open space.

We have turtles.

We have squirrels, rabbits, prairie dogs, coyotes, foxes, and often times, raccoons too.  And yes, we even have snakes.  So far, we have only seen one snake this season, and that is perfectly OK with me.  The less snakes I see, the better.  But enough about that.

We have so many beautiful birds and water fowl.

While we were out on our latest walk-about, we saw our first white pelican of the season.  He was just out taking a leisurely swim along with his buddy, a snowy egret.

  1. Wonderful pictures. How close were you to that prairie dog? Are they shy and run away or will they get close?

We live in the middle of the woods. Martha came in the other day from the back yard and a chicken snake decided to follow…not fun. Wildlife needs to stay wild…outside.

    1. I agree. Wildlife needs to stay free and outside. Some people need to stay wild and free too. I am most definitely one of those that does not do well when couped up inside. 🙂 Usually you can get pretty close to the prairie dogs. They are everywhere here and are pretty used to people. I wasn’t that close to these though. I zoomed in quite a bit. I like to give all the wild animals their space as much as possible.

      1. Yea I’m taking walks everyday between support calls. I’m having to relearn all of this again. I’m usually on the phone with vendors etc…now I’m back on the lines lol.

Those prairie dogs are so cute looking. Thanks for the pictures. We all need something to brighten our lives right now.

      2. I’m the Director of IT in a southern restaurant chain in Nashville at the corp office. But I’m home now for the time being. I’m having fun doing support again instead of talking with vendors and paperwork.

      3. Yes the owner…has kept our biggest one location open but he is already preparing to reopen them when possible. They had to get rid of a lot of people…so I’m a lucky person to still have a job.
I had another job in Feb that I was going to leave but the owner talked me out of it…glad he did now. He called right before we closed and told me not to worry…he had my back. Of course I’m the only one now that knows our network….that was a long answer lol…but yes he is determined.

  2. Was meant to say , there are a few in at James park in London, originally a gift to the royal family, from the Russian ambassador in the 17th century. Obviously not the very same pelicans there now. 🙂

  3. Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this website. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s challenging to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and visual appearance. I must say that you’ve done a very good job with this. Additionally, the blog loads very quick for me on Internet explorer. Excellent Blog!
