With all the Corona Virus shutdowns and hype, we refuse to give in and give up. We are still going out and enjoying life while businesses are still open. This is just a virus. Those of us of a certain age have seen and lived through far worse. Take precautions and keep yourself protected for sure, but life still goes on. I am NOT going to let all this silly media hype slow me down or stop me from living my life. So, my PSA being concluded, as I said, LIFE GOES ON! Go out and live.
Janet, Bob, Larry and I all went out to our favorite winery, InVintions, A Creative Winery Bottling the Wine. After an afternoon of wine tasting, it was time for dinner. There was an Indian restaurant nearby that Janet wanted to try, so off we went. It turns out, we had been to this sister restaurant owned by the same people, in Louisville last year, but we didn’t realize that until we looked at the address on the business card. Surprise, surprise, we really liked the restaurant – AGAIN! 🙂 Now we know there is one closer to home AND down by our favorite winery. We are covered at both ends.
Whether we are in Louisville or Centennial, we know we can find some fantastic Indian food at Bawarchi Biryanis Indian Cuisine.
Celebrating life and having fun.
Grilling up some special sandwiches. I don’t know about you, but I have never seen a grill like this before. The Chef looks happy with the results.
This is something new, but what a great idea. You can push the buttons to summon your server. Wouldn’t this be great if all restaurants had this?
We have have all learned that often when we go out, there is way TOO much food, but we want to try as many things as we can, especially when we go to new places, so we order a few menu items and we all share. We started off with a potato dosa that was served with four different sauces. Starting from the right, we have a cool and creamy yogurt sauce, dahl, tomato chutney, and finishing with a peanut and cashew sauce. We tried them all and all were very good. The potato dosa was phenomenal. We all agreed it was the best dosa we ever had.
After the dosa, we had our entrees. We ordered some chicken vindaloo, with a heat level of about 6. In most Indian and Thai restaurants you can order your food with varying degrees of heat. We all love spicy, but even for us, a 6-7 is about as high as we dare go in either of these restaurants. If we go beyond a 7, we will all be paying the price later. Along with the chicken vindaloo, we also ordered some garlic naan bread, rice and some curried goat.
Two more sauces came with the goat dish. Once was a peanut and fenugreek sauce, and the other was another yogurt sauce with coriander (cilantro) and parsley.
Everything was fantastic. As always, we enjoyed out time together. There was lots of good wine, lots of good food, and of course, lots of good company. That is really what life is all about, after all. We enjoy it to the fullest, and even in these times of panic and chaos, we still manage to enjoy and make the most out of everything.
Sadly, we had to pass on dessert. We were so full. There was absolutely NO room left for these decadent treats. There was a nice selection of ice cream flavors, many of which were quite exotic and would have been very interesting to try.
And some beautiful desserts that sadly, we had to pass on as well. There is always next time though. 🙂
Whether you are in the North Denver Metro area or the South Denver Metro area, you know there will be some very good, authentic Indian cuisine at Bawarchi Biryanis Indian Cuisine near by. If you are in the North Metro area, visit the Louisville location, at 390 S. McCaslin Blvd and if you are down south, you can go to the Centennial restaurant at 11001 E. Arapahoe Place, Unite B1. We’ve eaten at both now, and both are great. If you are going to the Louisville location, you can call them at (303) 955-8228 or reach them online at bawarchisuperior@gmail.com or at http://www.bawarchisuperior.com. When down south, you can reach them at (720) 799-5666 or reach them at bawarchidenver@gmail.com or http://www.bawarchidenver.com. You are in for a very delicious treat no matter what location you choose. Bring your friends and bring your appetites and let the feasting begin.
Awesome you’re not panicking over the virus. The media is making it look like the plague, and it’s not. I think anyplace that’s not completely packed with people is still safe to go to and enjoy. That restaurant looks amazing. I don’t like Indian food, but after reading your blog I would like to give it another try.

You know, I am a firm believer that we all have our times to go, and no one knows when that will be. So live your life and enjoy it while you can. None of us are here forever.
If you do not like Indian foods, when you do try it, try it on the MILD side. It is always easier to spice it up after it is cooked than to tone it down.

So I saw a grill like that at Walmart a couple months ago. We already have a giant smoker, otherwise I would have bought it just to do paella because it could fit one of those enormous paella pans. So cool.
We are also doing our best to support local businesses now.

YAY!!!!! We are officially in lock down now. as of yesterday. I just don’t get it. Take care and stay well. 🙂

Sadly we’re now in lockdown, only food shops, pharmacies, banks etc are open for business.

We are now officially in lock down too, which I just don’t get. I think closing all the businesses and destroying the economy is far worse than the virus itself. But …. That’s just my view.

I know someone who’s recently died of the virus. She was younger than me. It tends to put a different complexion on things.

Well, it wouldn’t be the first time people have freaked over sketchy at best evidence. I’m not being rebellious, I’m just being sensible.

I am right there with you. It seems lately, common sense is a very rare commodity. It is getting harder and harder to find.

Two of my beautiful nieces took me out to a lovely birthday lunch yesterday and it felt good to just be with them and lots of other people, and there were no sick people around so they are being reasonable and apparently staying home. I agree with everything you said, and I’m really tired of the panic mode of the media which has ensured that no one can buy toilet paper for who knows how long! Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da!

Happy Birthday! I am glad to hear you enjoyed yourself amidst all this chaos and panic.

It was great, and the restaurant was busy, but not overcrowded as it sometimes is. Don’t know what the next week will bring, all the schools in both Vermont and New Hampshire are closed for at least three weeks.

I think the whole world is shut down right now. There is not too much open , anywhere you go.

I totally agree, we cannot stop living. If we need to go somewhere, we should. That said, the point in staying home is not so that you won’t get the coronavirus yourself, but to keep the spread at bay overall so that the medical system won’t be overtaxed in their limited resources and have to decide who gets care and who dies.
Not everyone who gets the coronavirus has symptoms, some are just carriers. That could me, you, or anyone. And we can be spreading this unknowingly.
This is not just the flu. Regardless of what people on facebook and wordpress keep saying. And even if it were, people die even from the flu. But this is far worse and far more contagious. The only way to control it and be sure that there continue to be services and supplies for all, is to stay home and minimize exposure and spread.
Not trying to tell you what to do, but just trying to bring truth into all of the false information that’s being relayed to all of us. This is serious and it should be treated as such. We do not need to fear, but we do need to be wise about our choices in this season.

Thank you. I agree that we need to be wise about our choices, but I just don;t think is nearly as serious as it is being reported to be. I think the flu is far worse than this. I’m just sayin’.

I get it, I really do. I don’t mean to come across harsh and I don’t blame you for wanting to bring some normalcy back to life right now during all of this craziness. Not to mention wanting to help other people calm down and stop the panic. But, it’s just not true that the flu is worse than the Coronavirus. That’s old news and quite likely has never been true.
The mortality rate of the flu is .1% versus 3.4% (and growing) for Covid-19. You also have to remember, we have a vaccine for the flu to fight against it. That means everyone who could get infected, won’t. But presently, there is no vaccine or cure for Covid-19. Not only that, when we get the flu we have likely had it before at some point in our lives, because of that our immune system has already built antibodies to fight against it at first recognition. Not so with Covid-19. When the average person is exposed to this disease one of two things happen: We either become sick or we become carriers without our knowledge. There is no alternative because there is no defense at this point. That’s what makes this disease so much more dangerous and contagious than the flu. Not to mention our medical supplies and personnel are limited. We simply cannot take care of everyone who contracts this disease, therefore ‘we’ have to help keep it contained by self-isolating.
Consider this, all of these businesses that are closing are doing so at their own loss – which will be significant. You know the greed in this world.. do you really think they would be doing this if the situation wasn’t dangerous enough to warrant it? All I’m saying is that we should be doing whatever we can right now to minimize the threat of this disease and encouraging others to do the same. This will eventually pass and we will be able to get back to life as usual. But until then, I for one am going to isolate as much as possible so that I do not add to the present threat against myself and others.

In Vermont, we had only had three cases in the whole state and none in my county. I felt like I was on borrowed time this past weekend, and stocked up on a lot of things, did some cooking for the freezer, etc. We are prepared to be homebound, but hopefully closing the barn door now will help to curtail a bigger problem later on. I also decided to only look at news once a day – that, for my own peace of mind!

Smart thinking. It sounds like you are prepared. It is not really affecting us terribly much. I always buy things in bulk and stock up. Our freezers are full, so it just the everyday things we will need to get more of in the near future. Stay safe. 🙂

You too, but I’m sure you’ll practice common sense. I, too, am always stocked up! I don’t like having to go hunting down ingredients when I feel like making something!
